Benchmark Testing
Outstanding real-time performance results for LHS software on HP server and storage hardware
Solution handles charging of up to 36.7 million post- and prepaid subscribers at an average latency of less than 23 milliseconds
LHS, a leading provider of telecom billing and customer care systems across the wireless, wireline, and IP telecom markets worldwide, announced today the results of the latest benchmark of LHS' convergent charging solution based on BSCS iX Release 2 on an HP Integrity Superdome Server. The performance benchmark has shown excellent results in terms of throughput, latency and availability.
The LHS system, running HP-UX 11i with HP StorageWorks XP12000 Disk Arrays, was set up in a production-like environment and was able to charge the real-time traffic of up to 36.7 million customers. Achieving outstanding throughput of 10,200 transactions per second (TPS), the system demonstrated an extraordinarily low average latency of 22.9 milliseconds with an overall system utilization of 70 percent. For the first time, BSCS has broken through the barrier of 10,000 TPS, including heavy-overload scenarios with prepaid and postpaid traffic processed simultaneously.
“We are very pleased with the results of this year’s benchmark. This benchmark was the ultimate proof point that BSCS is a truly convergent system, being able to handle online charging and offline charging simultaneously in a single system fulfilling the highest expectations of a carrier-grade convergent charging solution," said Dr. Jens Troetscher, CTO at LHS. “While the throughput has increased by an impressive 82 percent, the average latency shows a 23-percent faster response time compared to results from a similar benchmark environment with the predecessor release of BSCS iX.”
Achieving this benchmark once again shows HP Integrity servers deliver power, flexibility and low latency in a cost-effective way," said Patty Lewis, Director of Business Support Systems, Communications, Media and Entertainment at HP.
