LHS Once Again Winner of World BSS Award
Outstanding customer project performance recognized in sector's most prestigious award
Frankfurt/Main – June 09, 2009 – LHS, part of the Ericsson Group (NASDAQ:ERIC) and a leading provider of telecom billing and customer care systems across the wireless, wireline, and IP telecom markets worldwide, received one of the most prestigious World BSS Awards at the BSS Summit, held June 8-11, in Amsterdam. LHS' powerful installation of BSCS iX Release 2 at UAE telecommunications provider Thuraya won the award in the "Most Effective Customer-Facing Project" category.
“We are very proud and honored that our efforts were recognized on a global level yet again, and would like to thank the panel of expert judges for their choice,” said Parvaiz Ahsan, Managing Director MEA APAC of LHS. “Gaining this award is a highly valued recognition of our diligent efforts in developing and offering outstanding customer care and billing solutions. The 'Most Effective Customer-Facing Project' award highlighted our specific aim of offering our customers efficient solutions that facilitate their everyday operations, make them more competitive, and save them substantial amounts of time and money,“ he concluded.
Convergent billing and customer care solution for 110+ countries served by Thuraya
Through partnerships with leading national telecom and mobile communications companies, Thuraya provides coverage in more than 110 countries across several continents with an estimated reach of 2.3 billion people. Subscribers can access Thuraya's mobile satellite system through service providers, who can either be national GSM network operators or local telecom operators. Thuraya's services complement national GSM networks, allowing subscribers to remain connected to their national mobile networks, and to access Thuraya's system whenever their network is out of reach. Billing and customer care for such a complex operation is very challenging and previously required 64 instances of its legacy billing and customer care system. In July 2008, all of Thuraya's billing operations were migrated to a single instance of BSCS iX Release 2 based in a single database.
"Billing our mobile satellite services is very complex, involving hundreds of markets and SPs, and hundreds of thousands subscribers with different rates, schemes and discounts. Therefore it was imperative for us to install a high-quality, highly flexible and advanced billing system that integrates so many inputs. BSCS iX Release 2 by LHS offers us a highly efficient system that supports our business and marketing plans,” said Mr. Yousuf Al Sayed, CEO of Thuraya.
The IIR's BSS Summit 2009 marked the 16th anniversary of the flagship event in the Telecoms Billing, Customer Care and Revenue Management sector. The event is the essential meeting place for billing and IT professionals in the EMEA region.
